“ocean tribute” Award, an internationally recognised initiative that celebrates innovative projects dedicated to marine conservation and the protection of our oceans, is now open for applications.

ICOMIA is pleased to support and promote the 2027 “ocean tribute” Award and encourages industry participation.

Presented by boot Düsseldorf and the German Ocean Foundation, the award recognises outstanding environmental projects that make a meaningful contribution to preserving marine ecosystems and advancing sustainability across the global maritime community. The winning project will receive prize funding of €20,000 to further support its work and impact.

2027 Applications

Applications for the 2027 award opened on 15 May 2026 and can be submitted online through the official “ocean tribute” Award platform. The application deadline is 31 August 2026.

Should fewer than ten projects be entered by that date, the submission period will be extended until 30 September 2026 to encourage broad participation and ensure a diverse range of innovative entries.

Evaluation & Nomination Process

Following the close of applications, an independent jury will evaluate all submissions and nominate five finalist projects. The selection process combines expert assessment with public engagement.

Once announced, the shortlisted projects will be featured on the “ocean tribute” website, where members of the public can vote for their preferred initiative.

Final Winner of the “ocean tribute” Award

The final winner will be determined through a combination of jury votes and public voting, ensuring both professional expertise and community support play a role in recognising the most impactful project.

By showcasing pioneering environmental initiatives, the “ocean tribute” Award highlights the positive role the recreational marine industry can play in protecting our oceans for future generations.
