Damian Foxall, coordinator of the Marine Mammal Advisory Group, will address the growing issue of marine megafauna strike mitigation. His session will explore the importance of proactive measures for race organisers, teams and governing bodies, with implications for athlete safety, sustainability and the sport’s relationship with the wider public.
Professional sailor Samantha Davies will participate in a panel examining the development and future of the IMOCA Class. With three Vendée Globe campaigns, two The Ocean Race campaigns and three La Solitaire du Figaro Paprec campaigns among her extensive racing achievements, Davies brings significant first-hand experience of the evolution of offshore racing.
Mattias Svenlin, Project Manager at Baltic Yachts, will discuss the development of innovative new race boats. Svenlin has played a key role in the development of RAVEN, an offshore foiler combining superyacht comfort with advanced racing technology and foil-assisted performance. He will join two other speakers in a session exploring some of the most spectacular new race boats of the year.
The diverse programme reflects the increasingly broad range of issues influencing modern yacht racing, from commercial and economic pressures to sustainability, technology and the development of new classes and boats.
