In this first episode, Ben interviews ICOMIA CEO Joe Lynch.
Joe gives an overview of the work ICOMIA (International Council of Marine Industry Associations) does and talks about the important work ICOMIA does on behalf of it’s members in the recreational boating industry to support success, growth, safety and sustainability.
Joe then goes on to talk about specific projects, in particular the Propelling our Future project https://propellingourfuture.com/ which focuses on the decarbonisation of the recreational boating industry.
He talks about the important work ICOMIA does in lobbying, standards and regulations, in particular the importance of ISO standards in the industry, and how the many ICOMIA committees and groups, made up of ICOMIA members, support and drive forward this work https://www.icomia.org/committees/.
Ben finishes the conversation by asking Joe about what the future holds for ICOMIA and Joe highlighted three key areas of focus:
- Sustainability
- Workforce growth through training and development
- Facilitating developing regions
