A new edition of the ICOMIA Small Craft Standards Bulletin has been published. The bulletin provides industry stakeholders early notification on changes to existing standards or new work items which are developed and maintained by the ISO Technical Committee for Small Craft Standards (TC 188).
The Small Craft Standards Bulletin provides an update of standards following two weeks of ISO TC 188 virtual working group meetings which took place via Zoom during the Plenary from 7 – 17th June 2022 and various other WG meetings in September 2022.
Recent updates include:
- A new HAS Consultant contract has been accepted by the EU Commission which means that some delayed assessments for harmonised standards can be completed before the end of 2022
- Sub-Committee 1 under ISO TC 188 deals with personal safety equipment and has a new Secretariat – AFNOR from France
- With the publication of the ISO Technical Specification, TS23625 Lithium-ion batteries this will now be developed into a full standard with a 36-month development time
- ICOMIA along with the Swedish Standards Institute (SIS) maintains a TC 188 Improvement List & Glossary of Terms
The next WG meetings will take place virtually via Zoom around October & November 2022 with hybrid meetings taking place during BOOT 2023 in Dusseldorf.
