This week the ICOMIA Machine Engine Committee (IMEC) group met in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Hosted by Volvo Penta, who provided Volvo Penta powered boats for a demonstration of their IPS technology, the meeting was attended by representatives from Yamaha, Suzuki, Nanni, Mercury Marine, Indmar Marine Engines, Pleasurecraft Engine Group, Cummins, Kawasaki, Tohatsu, BRP, and Selva Marine.
Key agenda items discussed at the meeting were:
- Updates and discussions on EU laws affecting the industry
- Ecodesign
- Major craft conversions
- Updates and discussions on US laws affecting the industry
- Control of toxic substances
- Emission control regulations in California and other states
- Other IMEC and ICOMIA activities
- Progress update on Propelling our Future campaign
- Preparations for global LCA project
- ISO standards development and updates
- Monitoring, influencing and designing the standards for safety and sustainability for all products within the industry
