The International Marine Certification Institute is an EU based, independent non-profit association notified by Belgium to the EU Commission for the CE certification of recreational craft, engines and components according to the Recreational Craft Directive 2013/53/EU.

Established in 1996, the association is committed to adding value to the worldwide recreational craft industry by assessing the compliance of companies, products services and business professionals.

IMCI has a 28 member Board of Directors from 16 countries representing manufacturer and users. An exceptional team of 53 qualified international inspectors from 23 countries and covering 17 languages are engaged to support and advise the certification process. In the IMCI Intelligence Centre, there are 11 persons covering 6 languages taking care of political, technical and administrative business.

By the end of December 2020, IMCI had certified more than 20,100 products from over 3,000 customers in more than 77 countries.
