Successful ISO TC188 Small Craft Meeting

During the Working Group meetings the drafting of ISO standards for RIBs, electrical equipment, scantlings, fire protection, CO detection and engine systems continued. Progress was also made on the standards harmonisation initiative. The Plenary agreed on a new work plan concerning the launch and management of New Work Items Proposals (NWIPs) and the revision of existing standards. There has been strong commitment from industry experts to create standards for the construction of boats and marine equipment. ICOMIA stresses the importance of international standards in assisting the free movement of boats and marine products in the global market. ICOMIA remains commited to developing global ISO standards for the recreational marine industry and provides significant funding support.
