Marinas de España – is the Spanish Federation of the Regional Associations of Marinas, composed by the associations of nine key coastal regions in Spain: Andalusia, Asturias, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Cantabria, Catalonia, Galicia, Murcia, and Valencia, representing more than 150 ports and, in turn, more than 46,000 berths.
The main objective of Marinas de España is to promote the continuous development and improvement of marinas in all activities related to the industry, including nautical, tourism, environmental, educational, and management aspects, thus ensuring that these marinas not only meet the highest quality standards but also contribute positively to the local and regional environment where they are located.

Marinas de España – Spanish Marinas Federation
The Spanish Federation of Marina and Tourist Port Associations is made up of the associations of Andalusia, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Catalonia, Murcia, Valencia, Galicia, Asturias, and Cantabria.
Along the nearly 8,000 km of coastline of the peninsula and the Canary and Balearic Islands, there are more than 350 marinas, with more than 125,000 moorings.
Almost two-thirds of Spain’s ports are located in the Mediterranean, 214 in total. The remaining 138 are in the Spanish autonomous communities and provinces bordering the Atlantic and the Cantabrian Sea.
Moorings Number Increase
Over the last 30 years, the number of moorings has steadily increased, reaching more than 250%. The size of moorings has increased, as has the average length of registered vessels. Furthermore, the nautical facilities built in recent decades have generally had greater capacity than those existing in the 1970s.
The main objective of the FEAPDT is to promote the development and improvement of marinas, sports docks and marinas in all the activities that comprise the sector, in its nautical, tourism, environmental, training and management aspects.
Goals
Marinas de España has a number of goals to fulfil.
- To promote the development and improvement of marinas, sports docks, clubs, marinas, dry docks, boatyards, and technical areas for recreational vessels in all activities that comprise the sector, including nautical, tourism, technical, economic, labour, industrial, tax, organisational, and other aspects.
- Carry out the management and collective representation delegated by its members before public and private organisations, both national and international.
- Manage and coordinate the common and business interests of its members in all aspects related to nautical, tourism, technical, economic, labour, industrial, training, tax, organisational, etc., uniting and supporting their initiatives.
- Participate with the Public Authorities and other public and private entities in the development of regulations that have a direct or indirect impact on administrative concessions of public land for the construction, management, and operation of sports and tourist ports, dry docks and technical areas, dry marinas, or the activities of any of these.
- Assistance and promotion by creating or providing appropriate services for the benefit of its members and promoting the establishment of entities conducive to achieving these goals.
- Participation, management, and collaboration with national and international associations for the development and defence of the interests of marinas and tourist ports, and nautical-sporting and tourism activities.
- Organise congresses, conventions, symposia, etc., on all topics of interest to its members. And, in general, any other purpose that benefits its members and the economy of the marina and tourism sector, always subordinating individual interests to the common good.
REPRESENTATION
Management and collective representation of its members before public authorities and any other public or private entity, as well as a platform for disseminating the values and characteristics of all associated ports at international boat shows or tourism and promotional events.

COORDINATION
Coordination of all its members, combining proposed initiatives and joint actions that serve to promote the regional, national, and international projection of the associated ports, as well as improving regulations related to the marina and nautical facilities sector.
Quality and Excellence in Management
The various marinas that are part of Feapdt are committed to the quality and excellence of the services they provide, starting with the management of the facility itself and respecting the environment in which they are located. Many have therefore obtained ISO 9001 and 14000 certifications.
Marinas have adopted a new standard, UNE 188004, developed by the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE) in conjunction with the Spanish Confederation of Nautical Club Associations (CEACN). This standard regulates activities in the nautical sector and allows nautical and sports facilities to obtain the ‘Q’ certification for Tourism Quality.
UNE 188004 sets forth the requirements that voluntarily regulate all buildings and infrastructure where recreational vessels are moored. These vessels must have all necessary services, including those for custody and those complementary to their crews. The standardised requirements include aspects related to mooring and berthing, dry dock, recreational vessel repair, vehicle parking, fuel supply, catering, changing rooms, and showers. Other aspects also include laundry, telephone, mail, messaging, meteorological and hydrographic information, and nautical and leisure activities.
Currently, the ISO standards for marinas (UNE-ISO 13687-1, 2 and 3) are in force through the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE).
