ICOMIA and EBI to introduce new RCD App at METS

by

The International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) and the European Boating Industry (EBI) have completed a comprehensive Guide in order to prepare for the new Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) 2013/53/EU that will become applicable from 18th January 2016.
The RCD guide will be available in a PDF format as well as an Apple Application. This new guide will be launched at METS, presented by Patrick Hemp, ICOMIA Technical Manager, at the Innovation Stage in the Elicium, on Wednesday 19 November, 16:45.
‘When the current RCD (94/25/EC) was amended in 2003 there were a few formal guidelines available from the Recreational Craft Sectoral Group (RSG) and the European Commission (known as the CC Guide). With the upcoming new RCD we thought we would make better use of technology in helping create an interactive, easy to use app whereby boat builders or distributors can navigate the various requirements efficiently.`
The new EU directive 2013/52/EU on recreational craft entered into force in January 2014. Between 18 January 2016 and 17 January 2017, companies can place on the EU market products compliant with both the old and new rules. As of 18 January 2017 only products in line with the new Directive will be accepted. To help you understand the new EU rules applying to manufacturers, private and commercial importers and distributors, the European Boating Industry and ICOMIA have prepared a dedicated guide explaining the new EU rules.
