Although the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) does not consider marinas and boat yards to be among the most significant contributors to water quality degradation, they are unfortunately extremely visible sources and are currently regulated or soon to be regulated under provisions of the Clean Water Act and Coastal Zone Management Act. What constitutes storm water discharge and pollution from marinas? What sources of Storm water discharge are currently regulated under Federal and State programs? What are the benefits and problems with the current regulations and what is being done to improve these regulations. These are a few of the questions to be addressed in this paper.
