ICOMIA Welcomes New Danish Member: The Ship And Boat Builders’ Association

by

Taking over from the newly defunct Danboat, the Ship and Boat Builders’ Association (SBBA) is an 86-strong member association operating within the framework of the Confederation of Danish Industry.

The previous ICOMIA member and representative for Denmark, Danboat, ceased to operate as of September 2017 and all assets were transferred to SBBA. The name Danboat continues as a working group under SBBA; its function being to coordinate the marketing and boating exhibitions in Denmark.
SBBA comprises a great variety of members, and includes the pleasure boat business and the maritime trade for industrial purposes in Denmark. Members include pleasure, fishing and industrial boat builders as well as sailmakers, repair facilities, marina operators, brokers, equipment manufacturers and wholesale and service facilities specialised within industrial vessels and the offshore industry.
To meet the requirements of full membership in ICOMIA, applicants must be a national marine industry association and legally incorporated. After meeting the criteria, SBBA replaces Danboat as its 36th member. ICOMIA’s members include marine industry associations from the vast majority of industrialised countries from North America across to Japan and from Finland down to New Zealand.
Udo Kleinitz, ICOMIA Secretary General, welcomed SBBA to the global ICOMIA family, “We very much look forward to working with the Ship and Boat Builders’ Association in the development of the Danish leisure marine industry by supporting its activities in export, promotion, development and market prioritisation”.
