Magenta Project has launched two key initiatives this summer as part of its tenth anniversary year. This underlines the Magenta Project’s mission to create pathways, dismantle barriers, and accelerate inclusion across sailing and the wider marine industry.

Magenta Project 2×25 Global Survey
Building on the landmark 2019 Women in Sailing Strategic Review – which exposed significant gender imbalance in the sport – the new 2×25 global survey represents the most ambitious equity and inclusion review ever undertaken in sailing.
Backed by 11th Hour Racing and supported by World Sailing, the study broadens its scope to include race, ableism, and age, alongside gender. Running through to September, the findings will be presented at the World Sailing AGM in November and launched publicly at METSTRADE and the Yacht Racing Forum. Participation is open to all – athletes, coaches, officials, marine professionals, and industry workers of all genders – and aims to capture a refreshed, global picture of progress and challenges across the sector.

Global Mentoring Programme 2025/26
At the same time, applications are open for The Magenta Project’s eighth annual Global Mentoring Programme, running from October 2025 to June 2026. This internationally recognised initiative is the only one of its kind in sailing, pairing aspiring women professionals with experienced mentors from across the global marine sector.
Since 2018, it has supported nearly 300 female mentees and engaged more than 100 mentors, helping to open doors and shape career pathways both on and off the water. With seven dedicated pathways – from inshore, offshore, and foiling, to STEM, media, race management, and leadership – the programme offers structured guidance, industry insights, and a supportive community for the next generation of women in sailing. The Magenta Project is seeking both mentees and mentors for the eighth edition of the programme.
Together, these initiatives reflect The Magenta Project’s bold new chapter: combining data-driven research with hands-on mentoring to create lasting, positive change in sailing and the wider marine industry.
