Description

Starting from the early 70s, the Permanent International Association for Navigation Congresses (PIANC) was involved in setting up recommendations on Sport and Pleasure Navigation, mainly in the field of designing, building and operating maritime and inland Marinas and Yacht Harbours. As not responsible of the application of specific rules, PIANC decided to set up some guidelines, useful to individuals who are concerned with those items. Since 1976, several reports from PIANC were concerned with Sport and Pleasure Navigation, facing various aspects of Harbours` design, floating pontoons, dry storage of boats, navigation aids, etc. The aim to develop studies with international character on these arguments may well agree with the intention of creating a classification system of Marinas and Yacht Harbours, giving a basis to evaluate the various items according to an international point of view.
