The International Council of Marine Industry Associations - ICOMIA - is delighted to announce the launch of the ICOMIA Asia Working Group (IAWG), following the first members’ meeting at the end of February this year.

Asia is geographically expansive and diverse in its cultures, commercial markets and political systems. However, the recreational marine market in most of this region remains immature with the exception of Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.

The entire recreational boating industry, represented by European Boating Industry (EBI) and the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) strongly condemn the invasion of Ukraine. Our thoughts are with the Ukrainian citizens, and the employees from boat yards, marinas and suppliers based in Ukraine who are suffering as victims of the war.

ICOMIA Marinas Group (IMG), has recently published a new policy paper on marina taxation, putting the spotlight on the number of taxes marinas pay and the disparity of the tax value when compared to other tourism outlets. It received input from ICOMIA’s partner, European Boating Industry (EBI), which is actively advocating on VAT and its application for the boating and nautical tourism sector at the EU level.
