The Executive Committee comprises a President, 2 Vice-Presidents,
5 Members (all elected), an Honorary Treasurer and a Secretary
General (permanent). It meets three or four times a year.

The International Council of Marine
Industry Associations' Marine Engine Committee, was formed in 1972 to bring
together the major recreational marine engine manufacturers and related oil
companies covering :
- Inboard petrol and diesel engines
- Sterndrive petrol and diesel engines
- 4-stroke petrol outboards
- 2-Stroke petrol outboards
- Diesel outboards
- Electric outboards
- Personal watercraft
IMEC represents the recreational marine engine and personal watercraft manufacturers worldwide.

Aims and Objectives
- provides for its members a forum in which to discuss issues of common concern, to collect relevant data and to formulate agreed policy.
- maintains close dialogue with international standards and regulatory authorities to project an informed and authoritative industry view.
- is proactive in contributing to regulatory initiatives seeking to protect the marine environment.
- supports its members with recommendations on compliance with new standards and regulations.
- publishes its opinions and recommendations and formulates draft international standards.
- promotes the concept of recreational boating as being in harmony with a clean and attractive marine environment.
- seeks to reduce exhaust and sound emission levels from recreational boats to the minimum possible.
